Gugulethu Sophia Mbatha, also popularly known as Gugu Mbatha-Raw is a popular British stage and film actress who gained popularity when she appeared in the 'Doctor Who' (a British science-fiction TV show) series aired on the BBC channel. Gugu's role in the show as Tish Jones was extremely popular. Tish Jones is the younger sister of Martha Jones. Her fans loved her lively spontaneity and there was no turning back for Gugu to have a promising career in acting! Gugu has appeared on a variety of British stage and TV shows. The actress has been praised for her performance in British period dramas such as 'Belle' (2013) and Beyond the Lights' (2014). She also appeared in American television productions like "Undercover", a Tom Hanks comedic film, and the series "Touch". In 2015, Gugu Mbatha Raw performed the role of lead in the play 'Nell Gwynn' written that was written by Jessica Swale, as a character who was an actress as well as the mistress to the king Charles II of England and Scotland. Her mother immigrated from Germany in the United States as a young woman in 1958. Her diagnosis was breast cancer in 1989, and was able to die after fighting the disease for the past ten years. Her father is Jewish and she was brought up Reform Judaism. Handler enjoyed a happy and healthy life within a thriving neighborhood. Handler was 19 when she made the decision to relocate in Los Angeles and pursue acting. Handler was an actor to earn a living for herself. Handler's storytelling ability was discovered as she reached the age of twenty-one. Handler then decided to make a full-time commitment to stand-up comedy. Handler's career began as part of the all-female Oxygen TV show in the hidden camera/practical comedy reality series Girls Behaving Unsteadily. It was in air from 2002 until 2005. The handler began to appear on other TV shows, such as Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler was a part of The Tonight Show for a while as a correspondent. Handler had her biggest break in 2006 when she became the host of E! The show was titled Chelsea Handler. The show ran for a total of two seasons. Handler performed at the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour at the American embassy the year after. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend as well as HBO have aired her stand-up performances. In 2010, it was announced that she would host at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. She became the second woman in the history of television, after Roseanne Barr, to host VMAs.
